Subject: SCHRADERS' PRAYER LTR MAY 2007
Dear Praying Friends,
Greetings from a sunny autumn day in Welkom. I just chowed down some
ostrich neck for lunch. Too bad you weren't here to join me. My spirits
are as "sunny" as the day. As of Apirl 17th my specialist informed me
that my Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia is in full remission and that without
chemo. or any other treatment! I am truly humbled by this blessing.
PTL! As our chief matron at our feeding project always tells me,
"Pastor, God is good all of the time!" Please remember Virginia Makafue
in prayer. She has such a responsibility in feeding over 350 children
each day. She sees that the "kitchen" is kept neat as a pin, as well as
keeping out unwelcome "guests" such as snakes and rats. From your
generous giving we keep the freezer and massive 3 burner propane gas
stove in running order. In fact, we are about to replace the entire
propane unit. The dust storms at Hani Park pretty much do in everything
sooner, or later. The funds to do this? They will be there. As
Virginia says, "God is good all of the time!" Our verse: "For I am the
LORD your God who upholds your right hand. Who says to you, Do not fear
I WILL HELP YOU!" Isaiah 41:13.
I WILL HELP YOU: Last week we helped a dear sister Numsa move into a
safer area. She teaches a readiness class in Hani Park for those hoping
to get into Dunamis Christian School. She also translates into Soto
Sandy's ladies Bible study every Saturday morning. Pray for me as I will
begin working with two men during the same time Sandy meets with the
ladies. Any way, we were driving from place to place picking up
furnishings for Numsa. One of the fellows with me said, "Pastor, we must
move quickly in this area as it is notorious for tsotsies (gangsters)."
We were literally throwing things into the truck. But when I came out of
the house, I noticed Paul and Michael were no longer loading, but were
leaning "spread eagled" against truck. The vehicle was surrounded by
tsotsies. The leader was practically leaning against me. I know
somebody was praying as I slowly reached into my hip pocket and offered
him a gospel tract. He snatched it out of my hand saying "Vats Dat?"
The title was, Where Are you Going to Spend Eternity? I humbly stated,
"That is a question we are all going to have face sooner or later." To
my surprise, he opened the tract and began reading it. The rest of the
gang was staring at him as to what was their next move. I was praying,
"Lord, what do I do next?" Suddenly, I hear this loud voice coming from
the house and as she came out into the yard she was saying, "I'M SAVED,
I'M BORN AGAIN, I KNOW JESUS!" I see this big black "angel" opening wide
her arms and I hurry to her and we hug. She then says loud and clear,
"PASTOR, THANK YOU FOR HELPING MY NIECE MOVE, YOU ARE SUCH A BLESSING!"
When I turned around the tsotsies had melted into the low rent
development. As we drove off, down at the next corner I saw the leader
leaning against a wall.... still reading that gospel tract. PRAY FOR HIM,
won't you?
I WILL HELP YOU: Welkom Baptist church just welcomed their newest
members, Bruce and Maurene. We just had a family last Sunday from
Camaroon visit the church. The church even passed an eventful milestone.
It was the first time in it's history that the ladies had ever thrown a
baby shower for a Tswana lady, Constance. One of the fears was that this
was not a part of "their" culture and she would not be comfortable with
the shower. On the contrary, Constance thoroughly enjoyed the surprise
shower and was very gracious. She received some beautiful pink dresses,
booties, and blankets (as the scan had shown "girl"). Well, surprise!
The Lord said, "boy!" PRAY for us as we need a strong supportive church
to back us when we plant Hani Park Baptist church. Presently, we are
still being taught patience in acquiring land or land plus some
dilapidated buildings that we can remodel for our future project.
Once again, thank you for allowing us to provide for our people in Hani
Park in so many ways. Beds, stoves, heaters, blankets, school tuitions,
food, doctor visits, and medicines are enabling us to help fulfill God's
own words, "I WILL HELP YOU!"
In His love & service,
Jake & Sandy
